Warning Signs: When to Seek Early Intervention

The first five years of a child's life are absolutely critical for brain and language development. Taking a "wait and see" approach can often delay important progress. We strongly recommend booking an assessment with our Liverpool team if your child is showing any of the following signs:

  • 12-15 Months: Limited babbling, pointing, or gesturing to communicate their needs.
  • 18-24 Months: Has fewer than 20-50 spoken words, or isn't putting two words together (e.g., "more milk").
  • 2-3 Years: Experiences frequent frustration, meltdowns, or tantrums because they cannot communicate what they want.
  • 3-4 Years: Grandparents, family friends, or strangers frequently have trouble understanding their speech.
  • Any Age: Repeating syllables or words (stuttering) for longer than a few months, or struggling to follow everyday instructions at home or preschool.

Our Tailored Paediatric Services in Liverpool

At daar, we don’t believe in rigid, "one-size-fits-all" clinical sessions. We know that Aussie kids learn and retain information best when they are having fun. Your child's therapy sessions will look like play, but they are carefully structured clinical interventions aimed at achieving specific goals.

Our Liverpool clinic offers comprehensive support for:

Speech Articulation and Sounds

If your child struggles to make certain sounds (such as lisping or swapping sounds like "t" for "k"), our therapists use fun, targeted exercises to improve their muscle coordination. This helps them speak clearly and be easily understood by their mates and teachers.

Language Delays (Expressive and Receptive)

We support children who are late to talk or struggle with language comprehension. We help children understand what is being said to them (receptive language) and give them the tools to structure sentences, use correct grammar, and express their thoughts effectively (expressive language).

Social Communication (Pragmatics)

For children, including those identifying as neurodivergent (such as those with Autism Spectrum Disorder), who might find the "unspoken rules" of conversation tricky. We provide neuro-affirming therapy that helps children learn how to navigate social cues, take turns in conversation, and interact comfortably with their peers in the Playground.

Fluency and Stuttering

Stuttering can be distressful for young children and impact their willingness to speak up in class. We provide evidence-based early intervention programmes (such as the Lidcombe Program) to gently manage stuttering and empower your child to speak fluidly and confidently.

Empowering Mums, Dads, and Carers: You Are Part of the Team

You are the most important person in your child's life. At our Liverpool clinic, we view parents and carers as active partners in the therapy process.

We strongly encourage you to sit in on every session. Our speech pathologists will explain the "why" behind every game and activity we do, providing you with practical, realistic strategies to seamlessly integrate therapy into your daily routine at home. When we work as a team, your child's progress will happen much faster.
