Your Trusted NDIS Speech Therapy Provider

Navigating the Navigating the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) can feel overwhelming, but accessing your child’s therapy shouldn’t be. At daar, we are a registered NDIS provider, helping families make the most of their funding to achieve real-world outcomes. We support all management types, including NDIA/agency-managed, plan-managed, and self-managed plans.

NDIS for Kids – Early Childhood Early Intervention
The early years are crucial for brain development. If you have concerns about your child’s communication, “wait and see” is rarely the best approach. Our NDIS for kids services focus on Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI), providing timely assessments for NDIS access requests or plan reviews. Whether your child has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Global Developmental Delay, or needs extra support with language skills, we guide you every step of the way.

For expert speech therapy in Georges River, contact daar today and give your child the support they need to thrive.

Comprehensive Speech Pathology Services

At daar, we don't offer a "one size fits all" approach. We provide tailored assessment, diagnosis, and therapy for a wide range of communication and swallowing needs.

Shape 46 (26)

Speech Sound Disorders

We help children who struggle to be understood due to articulation errors (making specific sounds) or phonological processes (patterns of sound errors).

Shape 46 (3)

Language Delays & Disorders

Our therapists work on both receptive language (understanding instructions and questions) and expressive language (using words and sentences to share ideas).

Shape 46 (3)

Literacy & Phonological Awareness

Speech and reading are deeply connected. We support children with reading, spelling, and pre-literacy skills to ensure they thrive in the classroom.

Shape 47

Stuttering for Children

Fluency issues can impact a child's confidence. We use evidence-based programs, such as the Lidcombe Program, to manage stuttering and help children speak smoothly and confidently.

Social Communication & Neurodiversity Affirming Practice

We are proud to be a neurodiversity-affirming practice. We support Autistic individuals and those with ADHD to navigate the social world on their own terms.

We have moved away from traditional "social skills training" that teaches children to mask. Instead, our Social Communication therapy focuses on:

  • Authentic Connection: Building relationships based on shared interests.
  • Self-Advocacy: Helping children express their needs and boundaries.
  • The Double Empathy Problem: Bridging the gap between different communication styles.

Shape 46 (3)
Voice & Fluency
  • Voice Disorders: We treat issues with pitch, volume, or quality of voice (such as nodules or vocal strain) to help you sound like yourself again.
  • Stuttering & Cluttering: Beyond stuttering for children, we also support adolescents and adults with fluency disorders.
Shape 47
Acquired Communication Disorders
  • Aphasia: We support language recovery following a stroke or brain injury, helping individuals regain their ability to speak, understand, read, and write.
  • Cognitive-Communication Disorders: We assist with memory, attention, and problem-solving skills that impact daily communication.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)

For those with limited verbal speech, we are experts in AAC. We assess, prescribe, and implement low-tech and high-tech communication devices to ensure every client has a way to express their needs and wants.

Shape 46 (3)
Literacy & Phonological Awareness

Strong speech skills lay the foundation for reading and writing. We support children with literacy challenges, including dyslexia and reading difficulties. By targeting Phonological Awareness (understanding sounds in words), we help bridge the gap between speaking and reading, ensuring academic success alongside communication goals.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do you provide NDIS speech therapy?

Yes, daar is a registered NDIS provider. We offer NDIS speech therapy for participants who are self-managed, plan-managed, and NDIA-managed. We can support you with funding for NDIS for kids (early childhood) as well as therapeutic supports for school-aged children and adults.

Do I need a referral to see a Speech Pathologist?

No, a doctor's referral is not strictly required to access private speech pathology services at daar. However, if you are planning to claim rebates through Medicare (such as a Chronic Disease Management Plan), you will need a referral from your GP. NDIS participants do not need a medical referral to use their funding.

How long does speech therapy take?

The duration of therapy varies greatly depending on the diagnosis and severity. Some children with mild speech sound errors may only need a block of 10 sessions, while complex needs like Social Communication challenges or Apraxia of Speech may require ongoing, long-term support. Your Speech Pathologist will discuss a projected timeline with you after the initial assessment.
