Toileting Training Program
Turn nappies into your child's step towards confident, independent toileting with our detailed program. Toileting training program is for children who have trouble with toilet refusal, accidents, night-time wetting, bowel withholding, constipation, or feel anxious about toileting.
This includes children who need NDIS toileting training, behaviour support toileting, toilet refusal support, or bedwetting support NDIS. The program is run by behaviour support workers with a lot of experience. It works well at home, at school, and in the community for children who need toilet training support for children, toilet training for autism, or a structured children’s toileting program.
At daar, we use Positive Behaviour Support that is backed by research to provide extra support. We make a clear and simple toileting plan that fits your child and family's needs, especially if you need positive behaviour support toilet training, toilet training behaviour strategies, or help addressing toilet anxiety in children and toilet training sensory needs.
Why This Program Works
When you talk about toileting for kids, a lot of parents feel stuck. You may say things like, “We’ve tried it all but still get accidents, refusals, or wet nights.”The reason is that toileting for children is not just a simple skill. It affects your child's routines, the way they feel about things, how they behave, how they talk to you, and how they learn to be independent in different ways, especially for those needing autism toilet training or support with withholding and constipation toileting.
We bring together all those elements through:
Visual routines and social stories
This way, they know what to do and feel better doing it. We also provide toilet training visual supports and strategies for children with toilet refusal strategies. Visual routines and social stories help children see and learn each step. This way, they know what to do and feel better doing it.
Parent/caregiver coaching supports you
You become the confident coach for your child, helping them choose their underpants, and not feel frustrated with the process. Many families benefit from toilet training parent coaching and building a toilet training routine for autism.
Settings consistency is important
We offer help in home, preschool, school, childcare and in places in the community. This keeps things the same for your child everywhere.
NDIS alignment
NDIS alignment means we track progress and set goals that fit funding needs. We also write reports that work for ndis toilet training requirements. Many children with autism, developmental delay, or sensory needs can have extra trouble with toileting. Some feel scared of flushing toilets. Others may find it hard to know when their bladder or bowels and bladders need to go. Our program keeps all these needs in mind. We focus on helping each child feel comfortable and get better with toileting, including those needing toilet training for children with disability or a bowel/constipation toilet training program.
Our goal is simple: to build your child’s practical toileting skills with sessions that are intentional, measurable, and aligned with your family’s goals.
Who This Program Is For
This program helps families if their children have any of these problems:
- A child has daytime accidents again and again, even when they try or follow steps. This may require a daytime toilet training program.
- A child wets the bed at night after they learn to use the toilet in the daytime. If these issues persist, it's advisable to seek help and consider contacting the National Continence Helpline for guidance, particularly if creating a bedwetting behaviour plan or night-time toilet training program.
- A child shows signs of holding bowel movements or has constipation that stops them from making progress in their child’s development, which often needs constipation and withholding support.
- A child is still in nappies after the age most switch to underwear, like past age 4, and you want a way for them to start wearing underwear.
- A helpful school-ready toileting plan is needed. This helps when moving up to preschool, kindergarten, or primary school and may include an NDIS-aligned toileting plan.
- A child with autism or delay with development may need things to be clear. Using steady habits, clear pictures, and behaviour tips helps these children who also benefit from behaviour support toilet training.
If you feel tired of always having to hit reset, clean up after accidents, and give constant reminders, this program can help. It is made to take away that burden, help your child be more independent, and show real progress.

NDIS Funding & Eligibility Explained
If your child has trouble with toileting because of a developmental delay or disability, then the NDIS may help with funding. This includes families seeking NDIS toileting training, NDIS toilet training, behaviour support toileting, or bedwetting support NDIS.
What we do:
- Make the toileting goals clear in your child’s NDIS plan. For example, set a goal to increase dry times or reduce accidents, including bowel-related goals for withholding and constipation toileting or bowel/constipation toilet training programs.
- Give starting data and follow-up data to show how things are getting better.
- If you say yes, we will talk with your support coordinator, school, childcare, or other helpers to check the paperwork is what the funder needs.
- If you feel unsure about how to say things for your plan or review, we will help you, so you feel ready.

Frequently Asked Questions:
How do you know your toddler is ready for potty training?
Signs that your toddler is ready for potty training include showing interest in the toilet, staying dry for longer periods, expressing discomfort in dirty diapers, and being able to follow simple instructions. Look for these cues to determine if it's time to start your Toileting Training Program effectively.
What age is “right” to start toilet training?
The best time to start toilet training is not about your child's age. Instead, it be more about when your child is ready. We look for signs that tell us your child is set to try toileting. They may stay dry for two or more hours. Your child may know when their nappy is wet or dirty. They can follow simple directions and pull their pants up and down. When your child shows these cues, we make a plan that fits for them and helps with toilet training.
My child has autism and avoids bathrooms. Can you help?
Yes, we can help. We keep the first steps simple and use easy routines that your child can follow. We put-up pictures or signs that show your child what to do. We slowly help them practice bathroom tasks, starting with small steps. We make the space feel safe for your child, by fixing things like lights, sounds and foot support. This makes your child feel better and get more sure of themself in the bathroom.
Constipation is holding back progress—what now?
We set up a bathroom routine. This means taking time to sit on the toilet after meals. We also look at drinks and fibre eaten. Good sitting posture is important. If needed, we talk to your GP for more help and to follow up.
Do you work with schools?
Yes, we do. If we have permission, we make a toileting support plan for teachers. We teach staff about cues and visuals. We also help keep data the same at home and at school. For example, we will suggest strategies for the next time a child needs assistance with toileting.
How long until we see progress?
Many people see good changes in 2-4 weeks if they keep being consistent. You might see fewer accidents and better sits in this time, especially if your toddler is ready to learn. It can take about 6-10 weeks for full independence. This time can change for each person. Things like sensory needs, changes at school, night-time wetting, and bowel habits can play a part.
