How to read an NDIS support item number

Every NDIS support has a unique support item number. Using occupational therapy as an example:

01 — support category number (the budget the support draws from)
661 — the individual item within that category
0128 — the registration group / support purpose (0128 = Therapeutic Supports)
1_3 — internal reference and price-control indicators

Suffixes identify how the support was delivered: _NF Non-Face-to-Face, _PT Provider Travel, _CA Cancellation, _TH Telehealth, _RR NDIA-requested report. This guide covers price-limited supports; assistive technology, home modifications and consumables are mostly quotable and are listed in the separate NDIS assistive technology, home modifications and consumables code guide.

Frequently asked questions

What is an NDIS support item number?
An NDIS support item number is the unique code the NDIA uses to identify each fundable support (for example, 01_661_0128_1_3 is occupational therapy direct service). Providers use it when claiming payment, and it determines the maximum price limit that applies.
What are the NDIS price limits for 2026–27?
Price limits are the maximum hourly (or per-unit) amounts a registered provider can charge, set in the NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026–27 effective 1 July 2026. They vary by support and by location (National, Remote +40%, Very Remote +50%). Search any item above to see its current limit.
What is the difference between National, Remote and Very Remote prices?
Supports delivered in remote (MMM 6) areas are priced about 40% above the national limit, and very remote (MMM 7) about 50% above, to reflect the higher cost of delivery. Use the location selector in the tool to switch rates.
What do _NF, _PT and _CA mean on a support item number?
They are delivery variants of the same support: _NF is Non-Face-to-Face (e.g. report writing), _PT is Provider Travel, _CA is a short-notice cancellation, _TH is telehealth and _RR is an NDIA-requested report. Each is claimed at the same hourly rate as the direct service unless otherwise stated.
Where can I find assistive technology and consumables codes?
AT, home modifications and consumables are mostly quotable supports listed in a separate NDIS code guide rather than the price schedule. This navigator focuses on price-limited supports with a set maximum price.
