A Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) — also called a Positive Behaviour Support Plan (PBS Plan) — is a personalised, evidence-based plan developed by a registered Behaviour Support Practitioner to help NDIS participants with challenging behaviours live a better quality of life.

A Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) is a personalised, NDIS-funded document created by a registered Behaviour Support Practitioner. It identifies the reasons behind a person's challenging behaviours and sets out strategies — including proactive, reactive, and skill-building approaches — to improve their quality of life.
An Interim Behaviour Support Plan is a short-term plan created quickly in response to an urgent need. A Comprehensive BSP is a full, in-depth plan developed after a thorough Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA). Most NDIS participants start with an Interim BSP while the comprehensive plan is being developed.
A Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Plan is a type of BSP that focuses on understanding why challenging behaviours occur and using proactive, person-centred strategies to improve quality of life — rather than just managing behaviours after they happen.
For eligible NDIS participants, Behaviour Support Plans are fully funded under Capacity Building — Improved Daily Living (line item 15_617_0128_1_3). There is no out-of-pocket cost when the NDIS plan includes this funding category.
Only a registered Specialist Behaviour Support provider registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission can write an NDIS BSP. Daar is a registered NDIS provider.
Yes. Behaviour Support Plans for kids with autism are one of the most common BSPs we write. If your child has challenging behaviours that affect their daily life or safety, a BSP can provide strategies for parents, teachers, and support workers.
A Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA) is an evidence-based assessment process used to understand the purpose (or 'function') of a challenging behaviour. It identifies triggers, antecedents, and consequences to inform the strategies in the Behaviour Support Plan.
Yes. Daar provides Behaviour Support Plans across every suburb, town, and remote community in Australia — including regional NSW, remote WA, NT communities, and rural Queensland. Telehealth and outreach options are available.
If a BSP includes the use of restrictive practices, the plan must be authorised in accordance with state and territory legislation and approved by the NDIS Commission. Daar's practitioners are experienced in managing restrictive practice authorisation.
An Interim BSP can typically be completed within 1-2 weeks of the initial assessment. A Comprehensive BSP, which includes a full Functional Behaviour Assessment, generally takes 4-8 weeks depending on the complexity of the participant's needs.
